Our Story

Launched in January of 2010, CoLab was Nashville’s first organized co-working office space in downtown Nashville. CoLab quickly became an overnight success and filled up the first floor and spread to the third floor of the Wells Fargo building on 4th Avenue.

CoLab is home to dozens of entrepreneurs, small business professionals and creative types who appreciate the benefits of co-working and collaboration.

As the premier Nashville co-working community, CoLab Nashville provides desks for co-workers as well as private executive office suites that can be leased for businesses that want that extra bit of privacy. Co-workers receive desk space, Internet access and other business tools they need to succeed, including mail service for those wanting a downtown Nashville virtual office. With a membership of any level, our members enjoy their very own business address, free use of the conference room spaces, free use of the large training room, free coffee and free print/fax/copy services.

Designed to nurture a wide range of individuals and companies, CoLab Nashvile houses writers, photographers, web developers, PR firms, programmers, IT experts, makeup artists, videographers, sales reps and even legal professionals.  Our fun, modern décor appeals to many people who want a workspace outside the home but don’t want a sterile Nashville downtown executive suite. Our coworking space fits the bill for those looking for alternatives to traditional Nashville office space for rent.

John Hussey founded the original Orlando CoLab in 2008. His mission was to join and lead the coworking movement in the Southeast. Kailey Hussey, John’s daughter and a Belmont University graduate, received her training at CoLab Orlando and was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit that flourishes there.  She knew that spirit of collaboration and working together across companies would be successful in downtown Nashville.  Kailey was right.

Much has happened since January of 2010, when Kailey returned to Nashville and started CoLab Nashville in the Wells Fargo building right across the street from the historic Arcade downtown.  Previously Wachovia’s business banking area, she discovered that much of the first floor had been vacant for over a year and knew it was the perfect venue for downtown Nashville coworking.  The space was filled to capacity in just one year and in 2011 expanded to another floor in the building. The community has steadily grown ever since and continues in the tradition started in Orlando: maintaining an environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and success.
